CRASH FESTIVAL 2012

Crash Festival :: Abermule – August 3rd & 4th, 2012

The organisers of the 3rd Crash Festival are already working hard to make the event bigger and better! Following on from the success of last year’s event, Abermule will again play host to the largest Mid-Wales open air music festival. Event and organisers plan more artists, musicians and acts than previous years put together.

The Dance tent will kick things off again on the Friday night with all forms of Dance /Trance / DnB and Happy House being played well into the early hours, Saturday will see the main stage and smaller tent welcome over 20 bands and groups from all over the region.

A selection of some of the 30 great acts performing as part of this year’s Crash Festival weekend so far:

DJ Sonny Wharton: The last couple of years for Sonny Wharton have been phenomenal! Described by The Shapeshifters as “one of the most prolific producers out there” he’s remixed the likes of Fatboy Slim, Utah Saints and The Temper Trap. As a DJ Sonny’s racked up slots for the who’s who of club land including sell-out shows at Space, Pacha and Ministry Of Sound. He’s held a monthly residency in Barcelona and regularly rocks the likes of Global Gathering, V Festival, Wickerman and Isle Of Wight Festival and played to over 1 million people at The Berlin Love Parade. In addition to this Sonny has done no less than 3 guest mixes for Radio 1.

Lisa DJ-Missyj Jones: Birmingham based female DJ, ♫ Full-Stomp-hardhouse/Bounce @ The Attic, Newtown, Powys ♫ ELECTROTHER – Filthy Electro/house @ Various venues in Birmingham ♫ Bambaux – Garage @ PST, Digbeth ♫ Distinct FM DJ mixed bag across west midlands, she has a number of residencies now, also plays on Distinct FM every Tuesday from 10am till 2pm with her partner DisKontent. MissyJ LOVES the weekly show as she gets to play a wide range of genres from DnB to house, Hip-Hop to Electro, Garage to DubStep. U name it, She’ll play it



Dai Robs and The Love: Dai Robs and The Love consist of Dai Robs, Andy Watson, Chris Clark, Andy Mantle and Jack Taylor. They fuse Dai’s songs as a singer-songwriter with his secret desire to be a pop star. To date the band have released one e.p, with the single from that record ‘waiting for you’ being made record of the week on BBC Radio Wales and also remixed by top U.K producer Sonny Wharton.

Alex Davies: Alex is an extremely talented local singer/songwriter and regular live musician he performed on Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1 on Saturday 7th April in front of a studio audience of 3500, a TV audience of 10 million, and three very hard-to-please judges! All putting him through to the next round. Since filming took place earlier in the year where he performed his own track “F R Double EE”, his feet haven’t touched the ground.

Fight the Bear: Fight The Bear is an exciting four-piece band from Bishops Castle Shropshire, their music is a dynamic mixture of Ska, Rock, Punk and Indy genres. Fight The Bear’s sound is centered on infectious songs, colorful riffs and grooves.

The Velvet Dukes: Are Will Barnes, Dai Robs, Chris Clark and Josh Davies. They are a funk based band that takes you through most conceivable genres from jazz to Drum and Bass.

 

String the Marionette:This year they have entered the UK Live & Unsigned comp and are one step away from the National Finals at the O2 Arena, 10,000 bands entered and they are thrilled to have made it through the first 2 rounds.

Halflight: Halflight are a band that originated in the local area but have now moved down to London. Through the winter months they have been tucked away in the studio recording a series of singles that are going to be released throughout the year.

SAM GOMM: Singer song-writer from mid-Wales, currently residing in Holland. He has been busy with producing new tracks and working on his Debut album at ‘Bos Studios’ touring round Europe since his last attendance at ‘Crash Festival’ in 2011, has been involved with ‘TV Gelderland’ ‘KINK F.M’ and ‘Radio 3 F.M’-Hollands National Station, Film Festival-‘Don’t knock the rock in the US’ together with his Father Ian Gomm (Ian has made a name for himself back in the 60’s through to present-day with the Band ‘Brinsley Schwartz’).

 

Camping with a family area as well as a “Mini” young people’s village will be a feature again, with the camp site increasing in size to cope with what the organisers hope will be more party people this year. The only thing that has stayed the same from last year’s event is the ticket prices. Committee member Ashley Owen said “Crash Festival is not for profit. All money goes to local good causes and making sure the festival keeps going from strength to strength.

How to Find Us: We are located on the B4386 between Abermule and Montgomery. At the Abermule roundabout take the exit marked Montgomery and continue on that road for approximately one mile. The festival, camping and parking are situated on the left hand side and will be clearly visible and sign-posted on the day.
